Phrasebooks
Daemon-like programs, like computer algebra systems, cannot understand OpenMath. Phrasebooks translate OpenMath to the program's own language and vice versa such that the program
can communicate with OpenMath-using utilities. RIACA developed phrasebooks for MathML and the computer algebra systems GAP, Magma, Maxima and Mathematica.

OpenMath
OpenMath is an emerging standard for representing the semantics of mathematical objects in XML.
It allows mathematical objects to be exchanged between computer programs, stored in databases or published on the Worldwide Web. RIACA had an important role in the development of OpenMath
